HOLLY's Story

THIS IS JUST AN ADDED UPDATE TO HOLLY'S STORY BELOW BUT WE HAD TO SHARE: This young lady just keeps amazing us. Please watch her videos and while it may just look like a dog learning to sit or fetching...for Holly to be playing and enjoying her "Dolly Parton" leash, collar and toys, it is truly a testimony to how smart and brave she truly is!!

THESE ARE STORIES YOU LIVE FOR:
Meet Holly! Holly was rescued from almost certain death just a few days before Christmas 2025. She was on someone's doorstep in such poor shape that the home owners thought she was a coyote and should be euthanized. One of Music City Animal Rescue's foster families lived in the neighborhood and quickly realized this was no coyote but a small dog in very bad condition. They went and picked her up.
Skinny, shivering and unsure, Holly allowed them to bring her inside and get her warm. They gave her warm food and blankets and time to just decompress.
In a couple of days Holly went to the vet only to realize that her poor physical condition was a result of a yeast infection that had spread all over her body as well as into her ears. She was given proper medications, a course of feeding to put a little weight back on her and time. During this time she met the foster's dogs and became good friends. She met their cats and ignored their catitude.

In the month and a half that Holly has been in foster care, we have discovered that due to her massive yeast infection in her ears, she is totally deaf. This really doesn't seem to bother her. She instinctively watches humans closely, and is being taught sign-language (hand signals) for things like come, sit, etc...She is so incredibly smart and willing to please that she is picking up on that beautifully.

Holly is fully vetted now. She is spayed, house-broken, up to date on all vaccinations and preventatives and microchipped. She has learned to play with toys and with the other dogs in the house. She loves to be with her people. She also loves to give kisses - anything to show her appreciation for the love she is given.

Holly is fully grown, approx. 5 years old and will probably never weigh over 30 lbs. She's a petite little girl with a great big heart and a willingness to please people.
She would be a great family dog but, whoever adopts her must be willing to continue to train her on hand signals (very important) and watch her skin for signs of yeast. This may never happen again because it was due to being out in the elements (cold, wet, etc...) or it could have been brought on by a food allergy. She isn't showing any new signs of food problems at this time but caution is suggested.
ALSO, we think she would do well in a household WITHOUT small children, because she can't hear them when they are running or come up behind her.

These are the stories we live for. If you want to be the next chapter in Holly's story, visit www.Musiccityanimalrescue.com and submit an application. We will get in contact with you to set up a meeting. We know you will fall in love with her just like we have.
