Meet Hoagie
Age: 2 Years
Sex: Male
Size: Medium
Good With Dogs: Possible
Good With Cats: No
Good With Children: Yes
Hoagie was a day away from having to be euthanized before coming into our foster program. Hoagie is a happy go easy husky. He has had a rough few months. Hoagie was surrendered to the shelter with a fracture in his left leg. He was limping, but not in visible pain. The origins of the fracture are murky, as the owner didn’t realize there was an issue for a number of weeks. It is possible that it was a result of a gunshot wound when the owner had his home broken into and was himself shot.
Whatever the origin of Hoagie’s injury, by the time he arrived at Sedona Shepherd, the bones were already in the healing process. The surgeon who physical examined Hoagie and his X-rays, determined that it would be best not to have surgery. Her recommendation was continued rest and medication for the next 3 to 4 weeks to allow the leg to continue to heal.
Hoagie is now enjoying his time in one of our foster homes. After a day of explaining the rules (furniture is not for marking), Hoagie settled in nicely to his home and is respecting his boundaries. Hoagie is so excited to meet new people. We try to keep the enthusiasm down to a minimum so he doesn’t hurt his leg. Hoagie is friendly with young and old people alike. According to his shelter records, Hoagie did live with another dog. He appears to want to greet and possibly play with other dogs, but we have to hold off on the play until he is fully healed.
If you like to have a fun dog, then Hoagie will be a perfect match. He is located in northern New Jersey and is now available for adoption.
