Hershey's Story

Meet Hershey: A Sweet Soul Seeking a Gentle Home
6 Years Old | Male | 47 lbs | Terrier Mix

If a dog could embody grace through hardship, it would be Hershey. After a rough start that left him underweight and recovering from injuries, Hershey has proven that his heart is as resilient as it is kind. He has spent his recovery showing us nothing but quiet gratitude, hope, and a gentle spirit.

The Basics
Manners: A total gentleman! He listens well and is a dream on a leash.

House Training: Doing amazing! He appears to be fully house-trained and knows that a leash means it's time for a bathroom break.

Physical Health: Healing beautifully! He's happily putting weight back on.

The "Goofy" Factor: He's mastered the stairs, though he does them with a charmingly "goofy" flair.

His Personality
Hershey is a "tender-hearted" boy who accepts treats with a soft mouth and offers hopeful tail wags in return. He thrives on affection and "leans in" to soak up every bit of love he can get. In the shelter, he was a star in the "Gentle and Dainty" playgroup, showing he prefers calm, polite interactions over rowdy play.

His Ideal Home
Hershey is looking for a patient family who understands that he is still learning to trust the world again.

Men: He can be a bit timid around tall men at first. However, once a man sits down on his level, Hershey's wiggly, waggy side comes out! He just needs a "treats and calm voices" approach.

Kids: He is very comfortable and relaxed around teenagers.

Training: He's working on his "sit" (though he prefers a rug over cold tile!) and is currently practicing his confidence when left alone. His foster is working on his separation anxiety, and he'll need a family willing to continue that positive reinforcement.

Food: Zero food aggression-he's a polite eater who is just happy to be fed.

Foster Mom's Note: "Hershey is so grateful for gentle hands. He's a very sweet boy who will fit into almost any home that has a little extra patience to help him feel safe."

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
ADOPTION DISCLAIMER: At Perfectly Paired Pitties (P3), we aim to provide accurate
information about all of our animals to the best of our abilities.
