Hero's Story

Hero is a three-year-old, strong, loyal and loving, 85-pound, male, chocolate and vanilla pit bull terrier looking for a loving guardian.

Hero landed at Chicago Animal Care and Control due to no fault of his own. Luckily, he was a volunteer favorite and made his way out a cage and into Bonafied Rescue.

He has been living in a foster home while he had TPLO surgeries on both his rear legs. Poor Hero needed TPLO surgery, an orthopedic procedure, to stabilize both his damaged knee joints.

Since Hero is still in recovery, he’s looking for a home, as the one and only pet, for now, to protect him from rough play that could re-injure his legs.

Hero is good on leash, great in the car, crate-trained, and housebroken. He knows the commands sit, down and paw, loves to please and enjoys the mental stimulation (and treats) of training.

While he can live in an apartment, house, or condo, his ideal home would have a fenced-in yard. Due to his strength, he does best with children over the age of ten.

Hero isn’t shy and everyone is his friend. He’s playful; and loves to fetch, eat his food in puzzle toys, and any kind of food games.

Hero is very healthy, neutered, up-to-date on vaccines, microchipped, and heartworm and fecal tested negative.

His adoption fee of $350 benefits the rescues of Bonafied. To meet and possibly adopt Hero, please contact bonafied@yahoo.com and fill out an adoption application. He is available to be adopted within a two-hour drive of the Chicagoland area. He is currently being fostered in Chicago.
