Herman's Story
Herman is a sweet little senior with an adorable face, a love of comfy dog beds, and a soft spot for canine companionship. He is happiest spending his days relaxing in the living room, soaking up the sunshine on the patio, or napping close to his people.

One of Herman's best qualities is how well he gets along with other dogs. He enjoys their company, follows their lead, and would likely do well in a home with another calm, friendly dog. He is generally a quiet little guy who rarely barks and is content to observe the world around him.

Herman has a delightfully independent personality and definitely marches to the beat of his own drum. He takes time to build trust, but once he forms a bond with his person, we believe hell become an even more devoted companion. Because he can be sensitive when handled in ways he doesn't like, Herman is looking for an adult-only home with someone who understands and respects a dogs boundaries. He has tried to nip both his foster mom and the vet.

Like many senior dogs, Herman comes with a few special needs. He is not yet housetrained and currently wears a belly band indoors. He appears to have spent much of his life using pee pads and is still learning that outside is the place to go. His adopter should expect that house-training will require patience, consistency, and plenty of time at home. A family that is comfortable continuing with belly bands or indoor potty options may find that suits Herman best.

Herman has low exercise needs and isn't interested in long walks. A secure yard or patio where he can enjoy fresh air and sunshine is just his style. He rides quietly in a carrier for car trips and settles nicely at home when left alone for a few hours.

Herman can live with dog-savvy cats, although he may chase them if given the opportunity. He also appears to prefer eating his meals separately from other dogs.

If you are looking for a tiny companion with a big personality, appreciate quirky seniors, and have the patience to let trust grow at Herman's pace, this little fellow may be exactly the dog you have been waiting for. In return, you will gain a loyal companion who simply wants a safe, understanding home where he can enjoy his golden years.
