Herbie's Story

Meet Herbie! He's looking to adopt a family. The last place he lived starved and neglected him. He doesn't know what toys are or what he's supposed to do with them. But that is his past and he is looking forward to a home with nice humans and fun times ahead. Herbie loves life, going on walks & spending time with everyone. He loves to be goofy, wear clothes & cuddle. Herbie does have a hard time controlling his licker so will put tongue in your mouth if you're into that. 🤪
Herbie is a pittie mix, 37 lbs and about a year old. He passed his crate and kid testing and may be able to live in a cat home with strong boundaries and supervision. He has been receiving some needed TLC and his fur is starting to grow in.
Herbie got a fun sun day out. Below is what his handler had to say about this cutie. “Herbie doesn’t realize just yet that he’s capable of jumping into the truck bed, but allows you to fully lift him in or assist from behind. He rides beautifully and is the perfect height to just rest his chin on the bed rail while traveling. He enjoyed his park time and doesn’t pull strong while on the 30’ line. When upping the energy while running and playing, Herbie never jumped on his handler and will just stop next to you for a good lean in for affection and praise. He has a good recall, coming at a calm pace and stopping in front of you for that all important affection again. There was no overreaction, just observation when another dog at the park was playing a good game of fetch. Herbie loves meeting new people and did so respectfully, keeping all four feet on the ground to receive as much petting as possible and while that is happening, Herbie lays his head in your chest and looks like he will start to fall asleep as he becomes that comfortable with his person. Herbie can sit on command, just not consistently yet, I think he’s used to getting a treat as reward for that one. It took just minor redirection and correction to have him walking next to his handler's side and he did so on a nice loose lead through town. He did well in the businesses without making any potty mistakes. His name is appropriate as Herbie is a Love Bug, he will definitely be someone’s life long snuggle buddy.”

Herbie is currently in a foster home, please contact us if you are interested in meeting him!

Come check out our adoptable dogs at 2650 Washington Blvd, Crescent City, CA 95531.
