Herald's Story
Meet Herald (aka Harry, Hare-Bear)

5 years old
70 lbs
Male, neutered

Herald has come such a long way, and his foster couldn’t be more excited to share just how special he truly is.

Harry is now fully house trained and may just be the laziest Southern hound you’ll ever meet. Truly. He is wonderfully low-energy and perfectly content being a professional couch potato — sometimes his foster even has to wake him up just to get him outside. His favorite place in the world is curled up on the couch, as close to his people as possible.

Despite his hound roots, Harry is exceptionally quiet. He doesn’t join in when the other dogs bark and has only barked a handful of times since being in foster care. He prefers peace, calm, and staying out of the drama — especially when it comes to Raven, the stronger-personality dog in the home, whom Harry politely avoids whenever he can.

He is crate trained (cookies definitely help) and settles nicely. Harry lives harmoniously with other dogs and shows excellent canine manners. If another dog growls, he respectfully backs away. He would do well either with a calm dog companion or as an only dog. Cats are a firm no for him.

Harry will need a patient adopter who understands decompression and is willing to give him the time and space to adjust to a new home and routine. Once he feels safe, his true personality shines — a deeply affectionate, gentle soul who bonds closely with his humans and loves nothing more than being near them.

Considering everything he’s been through, Harry asks for very little: a soft couch, a predictable routine, and people who will love him back. In return, he offers quiet companionship, endless snuggles, and a calm, loving presence.

If you’re searching for a soulful, snuggly, low-key best friend who just wants to share space with you, Herald might be your perfect match.

Interested in adopting?
