Henry - In Foster's Story

Breed: Cocker Spaniel
Age: 1 year
Gender: Male
Weight: 17lbs
Energy Level: Medium
Adoption Fee: $450 + $50 refundable deposit

Am I good with:
Cats: Kinda, he will live with them if he has to, but he is not a huge fan of them and will bark/growl at them sometimes.
Dogs: Yes (Meet and greet required)
Children: 8+

About me: Henry came to us at 11lbs and has finally made it to a good healthy maintaining weight of 17lbs, he could still gain a couple pounds, but it must be done carefully. Henry is on a strict feeding schedule so as not to make him gain too much weight, his owner should be prepared to follow this and not overfeed him. Due to his past of not knowing when he would be fed, he does have food aggression with other animals and he is not allowed to eat outside of his crate or have any treats around other animals as well. Because of this he would be best with kids 8+ who can understand this process. He is a veryvery sweet boy who loves attention and to follow you all around all day. He does need continued work with potty training, his foster is slowly working on this, but his biggest thing is giving signs that he needs to go out. Henry is not non-shed or hypoallergenic. He loves to play with toys and he walks well on a harness and does well for car rides as well. He is a special boy who deserves a special home who can love him for who he is and all his weirdness.

This dog has been at ARP since: 11/24/25

-

The Animal Rescue Project (www.animalrescueproject.org) is committed to the best possible veterinary care for the pets it rescues and it is looking for adopters who will be similarly committed.

Adoptions are NOT first come, first served! We seek to choose the best fit for the approved adopter and pet.

Please understand that these animals are still new to us and their needs and requirements can change at any time as we learn more about them. We will try our best to get them updated online as soon as possible.

All dogs and puppies are given a general check-up when they enter our program.
They receive medication to remove any intestinal parasites (worms), fleas, and ticks they may have. Dogs greater than six months of age are checked for heartworm. If heartworm positive, the Animal Rescue Project treats the disease. Dogs and pups receive all age-appropriate vaccinations for distemper, and dogs greater than four months of age are also vaccinated for rabies, in compliance with State of Michigan laws. All dogs are also microchipped.

Most dogs and older puppies are spayed or neutered before adoption. In the case of puppies not old enough to be safely sterilized, a $50 deposit is required at the time of adoption and is refunded to the adopter with proof of sterilization.

The Animal Rescue Project requires every adopter to establish an active relationship with a veterinarian no later than 10 days after adoption. Adopters will receive a plan for routine veterinary care at the time of adoption and are expected to work with their vet to complete the plan.
