Henry's Story
Meet Henry!

Or "King Henry" as he likes to be called, because your business is also his business, and he prefers to be hand-fed a diet he deems appropriate. Behind his back, his subjects call him picky, but he likes to think of it as having a refined taste.

He rules with a gentle caress, and offers his attention generously with the warmest hugs and the sweetest kisses. Don't let his looks deceive you; he is more than happy, even insists, to accompany you on outings in the car and on hikes. He even dares you to keep up with him.

You might see him on his temporary throne behind the front desk, but he's still waiting for someone to offer him one more fit for a king like him. He won't mind sharing his new kingdom with other reigning fur kids, so bring yours by to see if they're a good match.

He recently has been on a few Dog Days Out with various volunteers. Here's what one had to say
"He may not have the most expressive face, but you can absolutely tell he’s loving his long walk in the park.
He moves with surprising speed, advancing down the trail like he has a mission! His mature, calm energy is irresistibly lovable. He’s always ready for affection, leaning in for head rubs and back scratches whenever we pause on the trail. He never pulled on the leash and didn’t react to small animals like squirrels. He’s a gentle, calm, easygoing partner who brings comfort just by being near — truly one of a kind."

Here's what another one had to say, "Spent a little fun time with Henry in my yard today! He enjoyed sniffing and exploring and being outside..walks well on a leash and is very good in the car! You would never knows he's an older boy! One of my favorites!! O Henry!!"

If you can’t resist a silver muzzle, stop by and meet him today!

Male
10 years old (appx.)
67 lbs

Adoption Return Notes:
Henry was adopted and returned a month later due to a job loss and the need to move to residence that only allowed one dog.
Lived with adult men & adult women.
Lived with a female pitbull. They did well together, but had problems with food together.
Henry had only 1 pee accident in the home.
He knows how to sit & lay down.

Origin/Intake Story:
Witnesses state that he was dumped from a small white SUV on Wisconsin Street in Hobart on 12-23-2025
If you have any information on this old boy, tips can be left anonymously, PLEASE call us 219-942-0103

Later, Henry was a adopted for a short time and did well with living with their female dog. A change in the financial and housing situation forced them to return Henry, so he is on the hunt again.

---------------------------------------------------
Hours: 11am-4pm each day
No appointments required

Disclaimer: Please only use our website (https://www.hshobart.org/adopt/adoptable-animals) to apply for pets.
