Henry's Story
Henry is a former street dog from Jamaica who lost his only safety net during the last hurricane. The shelter that cared for him was destroyed by the storm, completely disrupting his life and leaving him without any reference points.
Henry is very shy and will need a lot of patience and gentleness. He has never lived in a home and will have to learn what it means to be a family dog for the first time. Curious by nature, he enjoys sharing his space with a calm person, observing and being present by their side.
With people he knows and trusts, Henry accepts being petted. However, he does not yet allow strangers to touch him, and introductions must always be made slowly and with respect for his boundaries.
At this stage, Henry does not yet walk on a leash, and this will have to be taught very gradually, without any pressure. For his safety, a fenced yard is essential, especially while he is learning to wear a leash and walk outside.
Henry needs a very calm, patient, and committed home, with adopters who are willing to invest time, consistency, and kindness to help him open up to the world. With patience and dedication, Henry has the potential to become a deeply touching and loyal companion.
