Hemlock's Story
Meet Hemlock! He’s as sweet as they come, polite as can be, and undeniably a miniature version of a Great Dane.

Hemlock is an absolute sweetheart. He’s affectionate, snuggly, and happiest when he’s close to his person. He loves cuddling, curling up in your lap, and soaking up attention. You can tell he feels safest and most content when he’s with his people. Being left alone is still hard for him, and he would do best in a home where someone is around often or willing to help him build confidence over time.

Hemlock is housetrained, leash-trained, and sleeps through the night. He's not big on car rides but he is big on food - he came to us very underweight and has been more than willing to start building back some extra padding! While his hearing and eyesight aren't 100%, it doesn't dim his spirit one bit. He squeals like a pig when he's excited, and his two favorite times of day are when you wake up in the morning and pet him, and when it's time to eat (honestly, same).

Outside on walks, Hemlock takes on a different role: neighborhood watch. He happily trots along with a wagging tail, but feels strongly about announcing anything that moves (dogs, cars), and even a few things that don’t, including the occasional suspicious lawn statue. We love how much he enjoys his walks and are working with him on his reactivity - treats definitely help to distract him!

Hemlock would love for his new home to have a fenced yard so he can get in plenty of sniffing on. He's looking for a calm, quiet home with humans who love cuddling and going for walks as much as he does, and who can provide him with structure and routine. Hemlock has done well with older children; we haven't had a chance yet to observe him with younger ones.

Hemlock may be small in stature, but he’s absolutely huge in charm, courage, and snuggles. He can't wait for his forever family to find him!

Hemlock is approximately 12 years old and 19 lbs.

Fostered in Winchester, VA
Please apply at MirisHaven.org
