Helena's Story
Helena A182563
36 lb. spayed female, approx 1 1/2 years old

-This little peanut starts off unsure and has the "army crawl" down pat!
-She does however seek comfort in your lap and wants all the pets and attention
-Once she is comfortable, she becomes super wiggly when you pet her and will often go into zoomie mode!
-She can also settle in for pets and belly rubs if you give her time
-She seems to not understand how to "be a dog" quite yet but she's well on her way to figuring it out
-She also does not know how to play with toys currently
-She is treat motivated and will either sit, or lay down, when you ask her to sit. She's still working on taking them gently but is already catching on!
-She walks nicely on leash with minimal pulling and loves to sniff and explore along the way
-Ultimately she's a very sweet gal!
-Seems non reactive to dogs nearby and may do well living with a fur sibling after slow and proper intros

Unknown behavior with dogs/cats/kids

*Meet all of our adoptable pets on our website friendsofdacc.org/adopt

*Please keep in mind that the shelter can be a very stressful environment.

*Studies show that a minimum of 3 days decompression drastically lower stress hormones and allow the dog to show more personality after they have settled in.

*There is a suggested donation of $100 for our dogs, payable by cash, check or through paypal at the time of the adoption.

*To meet them please go to front door and a DACC staff member will assist you with adoption or fostering.

**And when coming to meet one of our dogs, please bring all the humans with you, but leave any current dogs at home. Staff will go over how to slowly and properly introduce them after a decompression period.**

*The shelter is open 7 days a week from 10:30-5:30

**1431 E Ferry St. Detroit
