Heidi *courtesy post's Story

Heidi is 4 years old, and is a Shiloh Shepherd. They are an American breed under development, descended mostly from and very similar to American-line German shepherds. She is 4 years old and spayed. She weighs about 80 pounds. She lives in a home with another dog and small children and is very affectionate. She works for praise and was the star of her obedience class. She loves to be petted and get belly rubs, being at your feet is her idea of heaven. A home with an experience shepherd owner is best for Heidi, as she can be reactive in situations outside of her comfort zone. She has moderate prey drive and will chase small animals, including cats. The caveat is that she is easily trained and smart, so only training would be required to allow her to live in harmony with whatever other animals were in the home. She is sometimes very vocal and whiney, especially when it is feeding time, but really she can ‘yodel’anytime she is excited. She is not high energy and while she benefits from a daily walk she mostly lays around the house sleeping all day. She is not destructive or a digger or anything, but she is crated when I am out of the house as she might counter surf for food or go up on the couch if I am gone. Heidi is very pack oriented and can be protective in barking at people or dogs approaching her yard when she is outside. Her dream owner will be a natural leader, someone calm and confident who is willing to keep up with the ongoing socialization that shepherds need, and who loves giving belly rubs. Her family is military and faced with an overseas move where they may only bring one dog. Since Heidi is the younger of their two dogs they are hoping she has a better chance of finding a wonderful home.

Contact laura.lizotte@gmx.com
