Heidi's Story

Heidi is approximately 3 years old. She was an owner surrender (fall of 2021) who had 9 dogs upon adopting Heidi . Those dogs picked on her and made her fearful. She entered the Powder Pals dog program in March, 2022. Her exceptional intelligence showed as she learned things quickly. She knows many commands and is potty and crate trained. She does well in a head collar in leash walking (Gentle Leader or Haiti). Once she knows you she will also walk well in a no pull harness. She is a very active dog who needs daily exercise. She is good with most people, all people once she meets them and many dogs but not some dogs. She is good with most children once she spends some time with them. She is best in a setting without other dogs until one can identify they can coexist well. Then she wants to be with them. Her best friend in boarding is a German Shepard who play together daily. She also enjoys children at boarding ages 5 to preteen.<br/>She is a high energy dog who needs daily exercise. She has a strong prey drive and tolerates being around cats or small animals. Heidi was given a behavioral evaluation Sept 1, by an Idaho Trainer. Several observations include friendly, playful, self playful, socially skilled, loyal, likes things to do, positive reward training motivated. She has a strong scenting ability and prey drive. She needs a secure fenced yard. She is an extremely intelligent dog. She loves water and can jump very high, making her an agility candidate. Heidi is patiently awaiting her forever home and person of her own. Please open your heart to this very affectionate, intelligent dog as your companion.
