Hazel's Story
Meet sweet Hazel — the definition of quiet strength.

This beautiful 5-year-old Havanese with soft fawn patches and striking light green eyes came to rescue after spending her life in a puppy mill. When she could no longer be bred, she was finally given the chance at a new beginning. But for Hazel, learning how to simply be a dog is a journey that is only just beginning.

Her story is written all over her. The quiet fear in her eyes and her gentle, cautious nature are both heartbreaking and inspiring. When Hazel first arrived, she was terrified of nearly everything. She would tremble anytime someone approached her, lowering her eyes as if trying to disappear. Yet despite the fear and uncertainty she carried, she never showed aggression — only quiet resilience.

Interestingly, Hazel seemed to trust children the most from the start. We can only imagine that perhaps the children at the farm were the only ones who ever showed her kindness.

And slowly, little by little, Hazel has started to bloom.

She has begun seeking out gentle affection from her humans and has discovered that ear scratches might actually be one of life’s greatest treasures. She’s starting to show playful moments and curiosity, and watching her learn that the world can be safe has been incredibly rewarding.

Hazel absolutely LOVES other dogs and would thrive in a home with a confident canine companion to help continue building her confidence. She is also cat friendly, crate trained, doing wonderfully with potty training, and learning how to walk on a leash.

Because of her past, Hazel would do best in a calm, patient home with older children who can understand and respect her need for time and space while she settles in. Once she trusts you, she will be the most loyal and loving companion imaginable.

Hazel truly embodies quiet courage. After everything she has endured, she still wants so badly to love and be loved. Beneath her fearful exterior is an absolute diamond waiting to shine.

Her future family is going to be so incredibly lucky to have her.

Visit our website to apply www.outcastrescue.com.
