Hazel's Story

Meet Hazel - professional shadow, part-time goofball, full-time sweetheart.

Hazel is a medium-sized lovebug with the softest eyes and the biggest heart. She was initially adopted as a puppy and has grown into a wonderful young dog, but it turns out she has one very important life requirement: people, please... and preferably all the time.

Hazel adores kids, lights up around other dogs, and believes every adult human was created specifically to pet her. If you move from room to room, congratulations - you now have a happily trotting assistant. She doesn't just want to be near her people... she wants to belong to them.

One of Hazel's cutest party tricks? Tell her "go to your house," and she will proudly sprint to her crate like she's just won an Olympic medal. She knows exactly where it is and is very pleased with herself for getting there so quickly. That said... she would like to formally request that crate time not last too long. Hazel's love language is companionship, not extended solo naps.

She's almost completely house trained and doing beautifully - she just prefers not to potty alone. If you're willing to stand on the porch and provide moral support, she'll handle the rest. Teamwork makes the dream work, after all.

Her perfect home? One where someone is around often, where she can tag along on daily life, soak up affection, play with dog friends or kiddos, and curl up close at the end of the day.

If you're looking for a loyal sidekick, a child's best friend, a dog's dog, and a certified cuddle professional - Hazel is ready to run (enthusiastically) into your heart... and possibly into her crate to show you how good she is first.

Humane Society of Harris County's Adoption Policy
Adoption Guidelines: We welcome responsible couples, families and singles. All adoptions require a personal meeting with the prospective adopter. We also faciltate long-distance adoptions. Out-of-town adoptions require a visit with a local agency who will screen on the HSHC's behalf. All animals are placed with the expectation of being indoors. We do not adopt to outdoor only homes. Dogs and cats are placed with the expectation they will become a permanent member of the adopting family and that adjustments to changes in life style will always include the pet. 3938 Barnes Mill Rd.
