Hayes's Story

It has been almost six weeks since our rescue met with an owner who was keeping five small chihuahuas in an outside cage at the very back of the yard. We immediately took all of them to remove them from their current living environment. We were told several generations of these tiny chihuahuas lived in the cage for many years. Some died due to illnesses like heartworm,
others somehow survived. Of the five dogs, Hayes has been the most challenging. He has never had human touch. In his foster home, Hayes has graduated from being placed in an xpen in the yard to running and playing freely with the other fosters. This is only because he follows what they do. He will run in and out of the house with the pack, but wants nothing to do with any humans. The only way his foster mom can catch him is to corner him inside the house. Hayes totally freaks out like a wild animal. Even trying to hold Hayes, he is so frightened he will not settle down. If he got away from his pack or got loose outside the yard, he would be gone forever. What can his future hold? It will take someone with an abundance of patience and unconditional love. Hayes might forever be like a feral cat living in a house. With that being said, Hayes is sitting here on the ground laying next to his foster mom while she is typing this bio. He is happy here. He is not in a cage in the hot sun. He loves to sleep in a house with AC ; Something he never experienced. Hayes is 1.5-2 years old, male, and weighs 6lbs. He is short and the cutest little guy. It fills our heart to see him running and playing with the other dogs. Please contact us if you can be that special human for Hayes. Remember, he has no leash training and requires a secure fenced yard.

Adoption fee $300
