Hawke's Story

Hawke is a typically "buddy" dog. Like many of his breed, he's happiest when he's by his owner's side. He loves just hanging with you.

Hawke came to rescue with a known back story. We think he escaped his original owner since he's such a pretty well-bred boy. He lived for a year or so at a homeless camp in Colusa and had multiple guardians there. He's super socialized with other dogs but like most ACD boys, he likes girls best. He romps and plays with his ACD foster family but doesn't truly understand how big he is. He will body slam you accidentally when he's focused on playing with a friend.

Hawke crates well. He'll sit in a crate in the car quietly and happily. He's a buddy dog. He wants to be where you are at all times. He's learning to walk on a lead like a gentleman and knows sit and down. Stay is a work in progress.

We think he has been foraging for himself for a bit. He will counter surf if given the opportunity and will definitely steal your sandwich if you leave it unattended. He is a cattle dog after all. He will climb or jump a fence if he's bored or wants to be with you when you're outside. Hawke is a typically "buddy" dog. Like many of his breed, he's happiest when he's by his owner's side. He loves just hanging with you. He’s not a backyard dog.

Hawke is athletic and quick to learn. He has a fairly high prey drive and has started in nose sports with his foster mom. He's a great agility prospect and loves water . He could do dock diving. He has a strong retrieve and tug drive. So a fun boy to play with.

Rescue is looking for an active home for this boy where he can be with his person most of the time. He's a sweet boy who needs a stable loving home.
