Hawke's Story
Meet Hawke - a gentle soul learning how to be loved.

We may never understand why someone would hurt an innocent animal, but we do know that Hawke's story is one of resilience, hope, and a foster who said "yes" at exactly the right time. His shoulder wound has healed, the bullet fragments are gone, and now Hawke is ready for the next chapter of his life.

After being abandoned and then shot at, it's no surprise Hawke is cautious with new people. But underneath that fear is a sweet, loving dog just waiting to bloom. His foster mom sees it every day: the kisses he gives her now that he trusts her, the way he lights up around other dogs, his pure joy when food is involved.

He loves being outdoors and is growing more curious and confident each day. When he first arrived, he was so unsure that he tried to sleep under a bush instead of coming inside-but those days are behind him. He didn't know any commands or how to play with toys, likely because he never had the chance. Yet he quickly learned "sit" and "shake," and he's eager to learn more (especially if treats are part of the deal!).

Hawke is potty-trained, walks beautifully on leash, does not need to be crated, and is working on feeling safe around unfamiliar people.

Hawke's perfect adopter will be patient, gentle, and willing to move at his pace. A calm, quiet home would help him thrive. He would enjoy a friendly dog companion, though it's not required.

If you think you might have room in your heart and home for this brave, tender boy, please fill out a no-obligation application. Hawke is ready for his second chance-and he's hoping it's with you.

Adoption fee is $360
Email: kristym@almosthomefoundation.net

Almost Home Foundation's adoption requirements:
1) Be at least 21 years of age
2) Have the consent of all adults living in the household
3) Have approval from the residence owner
4) Have valid ID with current address
5) Be approved by Almost Home Foundation as a suitable adoptive home
6) Live in the suburbs surrounding Schaumburg (Illinois Residents only)
*** Please note that Almost Home Foundation accepts only cash, Zelle, or checks for adoption fees; we do not accept debit or credit cards.***
