Hatch's Story

LOCATION: Heath, Texas
DOB: 11/26/2014 (Estimate)

Hatch is a kind, loving Great Dane mix with a soft soul and a big heart. Estimated to be around eight years old, he’s come such a long way from where he started. When Hatch first arrived, he was in rough shape—malnourished and heartworm positive—but thanks to time, care, and a lot of love, he’s now thriving with a shiny coat, a healthy appetite, and a sweet, grateful demeanor that shows every single day.

Hatch is calm, quiet, and wonderfully mild-mannered. He doesn’t jump on people, barely ever barks (his foster has only heard it once in two and a half years!), and loves nothing more than cozying up with his person for a relaxing evening of TV on the couch. He lives for that time together and will gently nudge you for attention when he’s ready to settle in for the night.

He has a moderate energy level and enjoys little bursts of playful zoomies around the house when he’s proud of himself—which is adorable to watch. Hatch does fine around other dogs and lived happily with a bonded partner until earlier this year. He’s been around children and did well with visiting grandkids ages 7 and 12. He also gets along just fine with visiting dogs.

Hatch is mostly housetrained—he’s had a few accidents in the past, but nothing recently. He hasn’t been crated in his foster home and doesn’t seem to need it. He does get excited when he sees a leash, though his foster parents are older and can’t manage his strength on walks. A home with someone who can safely walk him or a fenced yard to explore would be ideal.

He’s an easygoing dog overall, but like many seniors, Hatch is scared of thunderstorms and will seek comfort during loud weather. On stormy nights, he’ll climb into bed for comfort and stay close until it passes.

Hatch doesn’t ask for much—just a home filled with love, soft places to rest, and someone who enjoys a good cuddle session on the couch. He gives so much back in return. If you’re looking for a gentle companion who will be endlessly grateful for your love and care, Hatch is ready to fill that spot in your heart—and on your sofa.

========================= To apply to adopt me, please fill out the application form! https://form.jotform.com/51994996709176 .

Note: SRGDRR adopts nationwide and offers transport options to help you find your perfect match! Team Rocky Enterprises, Inc.'s Adoption Policy
How Our Adoption Process Works Team Rocky Enterprises DBA Save Rocky the Great Dane Rescue and Rehab (SRGDRR) follows a thoughtful adoption process designed to ensure the best possible match for both our dogs and their future families. Our available dogs are posted on our website, Facebook page, and multiple adoption platforms, including Petfinder. Once you find a dog you’re interested in, the process includes: 1. Adoption Application – This helps us learn about you, your household, and what you’re looking for in a dog so we can make the best match. 2. Veterinary Reference Check – We verify that current or past pets have received appropriate veterinary care. First-time pet owners are welcome and encouraged to apply. 3. Phone Interview – This is a chance for us to talk with you about the dog you’re interested in, including personality, needs, medical history, and any quirks. It’s also your opportunity to ask questions about the dog and our rescue. 4. Home Check – We confirm that your home environment is safe and appropriate for the dog, whether that includes a fenced yard or a leash-walking setup. This is not a housekeeping inspection—just a safety check. Once all steps are completed and approved, you’ll sign an adoption contract and submit an adoption donation. From there, your new forever friend will be ready to head home! Why This Process Matters Our goal is to match each dog with a home that best meets their needs. Some dogs thrive with experienced owners, while others do best with someone who is home most of the day or understands specific behavioral or medical needs. Taking the time to get this right helps ensure lifelong, successful adoptions. Our Lifetime Commitment If at any point you are unable to keep your adopted dog, you must contact us. We will always take our dogs back. We never want them to end up in unsafe situations or shelters again. Our responsibility to each dog lasts for their lifetime. Thank you for choosing rescue and for considering adoption with SRGDRR.
