Harvest's Story

Harvest's Big Adventure: A Perfect Day Out

Hi friends! My name is Harvest (ASC# 82251), and I wanted to tell you all about my amazing field trip day. It was a 10 out of 10 if you ask me.

First, my human gently picked me up and helped me into the car. Once I was settled in, I proved that I'm an excellent car rider-calm, polite, and ready for adventure. I rode nicely the whole way and just enjoyed the ride.

Our destination was Organ Mountains-Desert Peaks National Monument, and wow... what a place! The sun was shining, the air smelled incredible, and there were so many interesting things to sniff along the trail. I walked nicely on my leash the whole time. I do like to pause and take in the smells (they tell you a lot about the world), but I stayed right with my person and didn't pull.

I also got to meet lots of people. Humans are one of my favorite things! I'm a gentle, affectionate guy, and I love getting pets-and giving a few kisses too. Every new person was just another opportunity to say hello.

One of the funniest moments happened when my people sat down on a bench and started eating a peanut butter sandwich. Now, I didn't want to be rude. I didn't beg or whine. I simply sat beside them very politely and waited... and waited... hoping they might notice that I, too, appreciate peanut butter. Good things come to patient dogs, and my patience paid off!

The best part of the whole day was just being outside-walking, exploring, meeting nice people, and enjoying the sunshine. My hiking buddy even said that out of all the dogs they've walked, I was the best one yet. I'm not one to brag... but that made my tail wag pretty hard.

I've been waiting at the shelter for a while now, but days like this remind me how much I love being with people. I'm gentle, smart, social, and ready to be someone's loyal adventure buddy-or couch companion.

Until I find my forever home, I'll keep being the good dog everyone says I am.

- Harvest
