Harry's Story
***Being treated for Lyme Disease

Harry is a little over 4 years old and weighs about 52 pounds. He came to the shelter as part of a group of hounds who were brought into our care due to neglect and needed safety, support, and a fresh start. Harry arrived alongside Zach and another dog, all of whom required intervention and a chance to reset.

Harry is a classic hound in every sense — expressive, energetic, and not shy about sharing his thoughts. He is vocal in the way hounds are known for and enjoys communicating what’s on his mind, whether he’s excited, curious, or ready to get moving. He thrives when he has space to explore, follow scents, and burn off energy.

Despite his big personality, Harry is people-friendly and enjoys interaction and engagement. He does best with structure and routine and will benefit from an adopter who understands hounds and appreciates a dog who is confident, communicative, and full of life. Consistency and positive reinforcement will help Harry continue settling into home life.

Harry has done well with other dogs, though meet-and-greets are required to ensure a good match. He previously lived with cats, and as with any introductions, slow and appropriate transitions are recommended. Harry is looking for a hound-loving home that enjoys an active lifestyle and embraces a dog with opinions.

Harry is neutered, microchipped, heartworm tested, fully vaccinated (including rabies), dewormed, on monthly preventatives, and is currently being treated for Lyme disease.

Apply to adopt here:
https://orangecountyva.gov/159/Pet-Adoption-Foster-Care-Information
