At Somebody to the Rescue, our adoption process is designed to ensure that each animal is matched with the right family and that both the pet and the adopter are fully prepared for a successful, lifelong relationship. Our adoption process includes the following steps: Application Submission: Potential adopters start by completing an adoption application. The application gathers important information about the adopter’s home, experience with pets, lifestyle, and preferences to help us match them with the right animal. Application Review: Our team reviews all applications to ensure the pet’s needs and the adopter’s expectations align. We may contact the adopter for additional information or clarification to ensure the best fit. Home Visit or Virtual Interview: Depending on the situation, we may conduct a home visit or virtual interview to assess the environment the pet will be living in. This helps us ensure that the home is safe, secure, and appropriate for the specific animal being considered for adoption. Meet and Greet: If the application is approved, we arrange a meet-and-greet between the adopter and the pet. This gives both the adopter and the pet a chance to interact and determine if it’s a good match. For certain animals, we may suggest multiple meet-and-greets to ensure compatibility. Adoption Fee and Agreement: Once a match is made, the adopter is required to sign an adoption agreement, which outlines the responsibilities and expectations for pet care. An adoption fee is also required, which helps cover the cost of medical care, vaccinations, spay/neuter, and other services provided by Somebody to the Rescue. Post-Adoption Support: We offer ongoing support to adopters to ensure a smooth transition. Our team is available to provide advice on pet care, behavior, and training, as well as to answer any questions or concerns that may arise after adoption.

Our Mission

We primarily rescue abandoned, stray, or surrendered animals in North Mississippi who are in need of care and a second chance. Many of the pets we place for adoption are found in unsafe or neglectful situations, and we work diligently to rehabilitate and prepare them for loving, permanent homes.
