Harmony's Story

Hi there, I'm Harmony, aka Harmony May!

I'm a very loving, energetic, goofy girl. I was rescued from an LA shelter just before the 4th of July. My siblings and I were actually born there on Cinco De Mayo 2023.

My foster mom Christa has a 7 lb chi-weenie named Maya that's my age, a 30 lb senior dog named Bo, and 3 cats. I leave Bo alone because he's not feeling well, but Maya and I play every day. I get down low and let her hop all over my head and body and bite my face. That's fun, but when I try to get up and do the same thing to her, I do get too rough and she doesn't like it so Christa stops me from playing.

I don't play with the cats, but I do like them. That is, when things are good. One of the cats, Remmie, will suddenly hit me and cut me with his sharp claws, and that's upsetting. There was an 18 yr old cat named RJ that I loved, but he passed away from cancer. He would let me check him out and kinda liked it when I'd kiss his tiny face, but it would almost knock him over because he was so fragile.

I could definitely coexist with cats, especially really chill cats like RJ. Cats like Remmie and I are not a good match, however. He's just extremely territorial and strikes me when he doesn't like that I'm in his space, which is pretty much everywhere.

I love everyone who comes to visit! I go absolute nuts whenever a friend or even a stranger knocks on our door, but I do calm down. In fact, when the maintenance guy from my complex comes to fix stuff, I am just enamored with him. I cry and squeal at first, but after a few minutes, I will just start calmly following him all over the house, infatuated with his every move.

I love to stand up, put my paws on people's chest, throw my head back, stretch as far as I possibly can, and give kisses. Being so big, though, that is something I really shouldn't do so often. I just can't help myself!

I have learned how to sit, be off, lay down, and shake. That's my FAVORITE!!! I like to shake, then go "again" with the same paw, then shake with the "other one" and switch paws. I even like to pull people's hand towards my chest and hold it there, staring into their eyes. I just love people so much!

Christa just had surgery and couldn't really handle my size when I got all ramped with excitement before, which was a real bummer, but right now, she's not even able to walk me at all.

If I were able to exercise and get my pent-up energy expelled, I'd feel so much more calm and content. I would love a family who can walk or even run with me often, and it would be so awesome if there was another extremely energetic pup like myself who I can run and play with as well.

Maya and I just aren't a good play match because there's such a big size difference. I do come on strong at first with other dogs, and it can seem like I'm upset, but I'm really just so excited that I don't know what to do with myself. I always make friends when I'm given the chance.

I've been around kids and have done well. I'm just big and still very unaware of my size or how much space I take up and will get random uncontrollable zoomies. I'm sure I could learn how to be gentle with smaller kids eventually but right now I probably shouldn't be around any small children so I don't accidentally hurt them. If they're big enough and we have an adult human there to help moderate though, it'll be fine.

I'm gentle when I take food from everyone's hands, even children's, like in one of my pictures. That's my little human friend Vivianne in the yellow shirt. She was giving me and some of my foster friends treats one by one. I'm so good at sitting and waiting for my turn and then being very soft when I take the treat.

Here's some basics on me:
I was born on May 5th, 2023, I've been spayed, microchipped, dewormed, and am current on my DHLPP and Rabies vaccines as well as my Simparica Trio. I've also had negative heartworm and fecal tests and a normal blood panel. I'm all ready to go!

If you're interested in knowing more or even meeting me, you can reach out here on Petfinder, and that will send an email to my foster mom Christa. In case Petfinder has any issues connecting us, you can always email her directly (christasgrace@yahoo.com) and you can also reach her on her cell. She said it's ok for me to give it out, so here goes: (714)766-9803.

Thanks for reading all about me, and I really, really, really hope I get to meet you so I can have my fairytale ending!!!

Love,
~Harmony
