Harlow's Story

*Warning: Some images may be upsetting*

Meet Harlow!

Harlow arrived at WAG earlier this month in urgent need of care. He was very loved by his family, but his condition rapidly worsened beyond what they could manage so they reached out to WAG for help. We took Harlow to receive veterinary care and get testing to see the cause of his issues. His skin was severely inflamed, with most of his body affected by hair loss, thickened lesions, and painful ulcerations. His eyes were heavily infected, making examination difficult. Despite his pain, Harlow has been an incredibly trusting and brave boy. Diagnostic tests including skin scrapes, hair plucks, and bloodwork, have been sent to the lab to determine the exact cause of his condition. While we wait for his full results, he has begun receiving treatment and pain management, which he has been responding to and we have already seen improvements in him in less than a week! He has started to win over the hearts of staff members and volunteers.

Even though we have seen some positive signs, Harlow has a very long road to recovery ahead of him. WAG is only able to help animals like him thanks to donations from our supporters. You can donate to Harlow via our website by clicking the 'donate' button on the left of this screen. We appreciate each and every one of our supporters who believe in the work we do and allow us to help special animals like Harlow. We will keep you posted on Harlow's progress and his journey ahead, we hope to learn more at his vet appointment/ recheck later this week.

In the meantine - handsome Harlow is looking for a home to recover in. He is a sweet, easy going boy who loves people and cozy beds. He is currently on a few medications to help his with his eyes and skin infections and he is working on growing his fur back. While his condition isn’t contagious, he does have long road to recovery and a very compromised immune system so he is looking for a calm home with preferably no other animals.

Could you be my furever fam? Keep an eye on my profile as the team at WAG and I get to know each other better. In a position to foster? Call WAG now! Looking to adopt? Fill out an application form today.....

www.whistlerwag.com/dogs/harlow

My perfect home:
A family with patience who love large affectionate dogs who need will need some extra support, and can provide me with a safe space to continue my recovery.

Understanding that I have had HUGE changes in my life recently and havn't been well at all. My health will need to be a priority and regular vet checkups may be required post adoption

Be proactive with my training, using a local WAG approved trainer that will help me learn transition and give me the best set up for success.

Having a safe & secured yard would be a bonus for outdoor play sessions! If not, being okay with using a long line to allow plenty of freedom but keep me safe as I settle in.

I need a home that is committed to me and ready to give me a life with love and kindness for the rest of my years.
