Happy 's Story

Meet Happy — The Name Says It All

Happy is a 47‑lb lab mix who truly lives up to her name. She’s a joyful, playful girl who can entertain herself by tossing toys in the air and chasing them, but she’s even happier when she has a dog friend her size to romp with. She loves other dogs, though her enthusiasm can be a bit much for smaller or more timid pups.

Happy is also a big fan of people. She currently lives with teenagers and adores them and their friends. Because she’s energetic and still learning not to jump, we recommend a home without small children.

Personality & Play Style
- Very playful and energetic
- Gets mouthy when excited — her “play biting” is improving but still present
- Startles at unexpected noises
- Can be possessive of her food

Training & Activity Needs
Happy is a smart girl who’s working on her basic commands like “sit” and “touch.” She enjoys her daily walks and is always ready to chase anything that moves — rabbits, birds, leaves, you name it. She currently walks 2–3 miles a day across 3–4 outings. Because of her prey drive and energy level, a fenced yard is strongly recommended.

Health & House Manners
Happy completed treatment for heartworm in October and has successfully been weaned off her post‑treatment heart medication. At this time, she does not appear to need further heartworm treatment.

She is housebroken, though while on a diuretic she needed to go out every 1.5–2 hours during the day. She sleeps in a crate at night and can hold it for a full 8 hours without accidents.

Who She’s Looking For
Happy is a very sweet, affectionate dog who will thrive with someone willing to continue her training, help her channel her energy, and provide plenty of toys and enrichment. She would love a home with a playful dog her size and an adopter who appreciates her joyful, goofy spirit!
