Hans Boerboel Warren, MI

Hans is a 130 lb purebred African Boerboel Mastiff who was born in March of 2015, making him just about 3 years old. He is a big sweetheart with a sensitive soul and gentle demeanor, despite his size. Hans came to us when his family decided to move out of state and decided they couldn’t take him along; that’s OK though, as poor Hans spent the majority of his time in a crate anyways due to their busy lives and work schedule. Hans has had a small amount of obedience training and knows how to “sit”, “lay down”, and “stay” on command. He does need a little more work on a leash but absolutely loves going for walks! His former owner said Hans loves playing ball and chewing on big, tasty bones. We have discovered he is also a big softy and will do just about anything for a stuffy toy to snuggle with! Hans is said to be good with children but due to his size, we may recommend a home with children that are steady on their feet. He is also said to be housebroken already. We don’t know how Hans is with cats yet but we do know that he does great with other dogs; he enjoys the company of female dogs and shows signs of being just fine with other males as well, but needs to be neutered first. Hans can be a bit of a jumper when he is excited so will need a little more training to make him the best dog he can be. The ideal home for Hans would have experience working with large, guardian-type breeds such as Mastiffs and understand that they are very sensitive; Hans cannot be forced to do anything, but learns very quickly given patience and guidance.
