Hank's Story

Hank is a 3-year-old Blue Heeler who has already learned just how quickly life can change. His family abandoned him at a shelter, and through no fault of his own, Hank found himself on the euthanasia list. Thankfully, Herding Haven stepped in just in time and gave this sweet boy the second chance he desperately needed.

Hank is deaf and even though he may not be able to hear you, he can feel when he is safe and loved and he will return that love in kind! Hank is a belly-rub enthusiast, ball fanatic, and professional nap buddy. He loves nothing more than laying beside his person and snoozing the day away after a good game of fetch. He also has excellent leash manners and is fully house trained.

Hank can be a little wary of strangers, so he needs a family who will respect his boundaries and allow him to meet new people at his own pace. Treats are definitely the way to his heart! Because Hank is deaf, his new family will also need to be thoughtful about how they communicate with him and help him feel safe and secure.

Hank is not a good fit for a home with children, and we don't yet know how he feels about cats. He would do best with patient, understanding people who will give him time to settle in and learn that he is finally home.

Hank is neutered, microchipped and up-to-date on vaccinations.

After being abandoned and nearly losing his life, Hank is ready for the part of his story where he is safe, loved, and someone's special boy.

Our Mission
Herding Haven rescues herding dogs from shelters where they have been deemed "unadaptable" due to physical, medical or behavioral issues (or sometimes just because the shelter is out of space). We place them in foster homes, rehabilitate them and then find them "forever" homes.
