Hank 's Story

Meet Hank — Your Ride-or-Die Adventure Buddy

Hank’s story starts with abandonment, but you’d never know it from the way he shows up in the world. This guy is all heart and absolutely loves his people. He’s the kind of dog who believes every human is a friend he just hasn’t met yet — and honestly, he’s probably right.

Hank is house trained and crate trained, and he happily eats and sleeps in his crate. The only time he hesitates is when he realizes you’re about to leave — not because he’s anxious, but because he’d much rather come with you. A small handful of kibble solves that problem quickly. He’s very food-motivated and very attached to his humans.

He can be left loose in the house and generally does great, though fair warning: Hank loves adventure. He’s always ready for a walk, a car ride, or whatever you’re doing next, and he really wants to be included. Car rides are one of his favorite things.

Hank is friendly with other dogs and enjoys their company. Occasionally, his enthusiasm can outpace other dogs, and he may need a short break to calm down — but he’s social and well-intentioned. He does well with cats and mostly ignores them (his foster even jokes that the first cat he met “locked him in the kitchen”). He’s also been fine with other animals.

Hank has not lived with young children and but we think he'd do best with kids at least over 6 due to his energy level.

On leash, Hank walks ahead without pulling and does best when he can move at his own pace. He knows several commands — including sit, lay down, stay, “back,” and staying out of the kitchen — and he’s motivated by treats, toys, and affection.

Hank’s energy level is high, and he’s looking for a home that can match it. He’s not an apartment dog and will do best in a house with a yard, ideally with other dogs to help burn off his zoomies and keep life interesting.

If you’re looking for a loyal, fun-loving dog who wants to be part of everything, Hank is ready to pack his bags and ride shotgun into his forever home.

Adoption Fee: $250

Hank
Collie Border/pointer Mix
1 year old
Male
43 lbs

New Hope Animal Rescue NFP 's Adoption Policy
We verify references for our fosters and volunteers to make sure our rescued animals have the best care while waiting for their forever homes. Likewise, we ask any potential adopter fill out and submit our adoption application prior to scheduling a meet and greet with a pet in a foster home. This does not obligate you to adopt, but it is the first step towards being added to our approved list of adopters. Applicants are approved pending vet reference and personal reference checks, and a home visit. All current animals in the home must be spayed/neutered, current on age-appropriate vaccines as well as heartworm and flea prevention and any information provided on an application will be verified. Thank you for your patience with our process! We are grateful you are looking to adopt your next pet.
