I’m a long haired blue weimaraner! I know, you didn’t know there was such a thing! Well here I am, AND my foster sister, Ivy, looks just like me (except I’m about 20 lbs and 6” bigger). Yes, I’m a BIG boy. But I am a gentle giant. I like to think I can be a lap dog sometimes. I’ve learned that treats are delicious, and since I’m such a big boy (countertop height to be exact), if you like your own food, you better keep it put away!<br/>I’m 8 years old but I can be very playful. I’ve had a rough few years. You see, my own dad died suddenly and I got shuffled around a bit. His daughter had me most recently, but she just couldn’t care for me and the other dog we were going to have to live with didn’t like me (OR any dogs really). When she heard about weimaraner rescues, she reached out for help. So I’m looking for a new loving home that understands the breed, likes a BIG cuddly boy, and enjoys a game of fetch and walks. I’m very good on a leash, I walk nicely with a harness and I like to meet people. I’ve encountered a few other dogs besides my foster sis, and some have been fine, others were a bit rough. I have a decently strong prey drive so I won’t do well with small animals, but I easily greeted and coexist with Ivy. I seem to do better with calm respectful dogs (who doesn’t!). I have met little children and do fine with them. I have been crated a lot in the past, but I do not like it. I can be trusted for a few hours out free in the house as long as all food is safely put away. I do best if I have a walk first to get some energy out and my foster mom gives me a long lasting treat like a bully stick or a collagen roll. I do have some separation and storm/fireworks anxiety, but a little medication does help. I am pretty lazy. I love to stretch out and sleep on the couch or floor, a lot. I’ve visited Home Depot and Discount Tire and I was a gem. Ivy and I turn heads wherever we go! I am neutered, up to date on all my shots, heart worm negative, and taking heart worm and flea/tick/parasite preventative. My skin and nails were a bit of a mess when I came into rescue, but I’ve had several soothing baths, gotten my nails trimmed and am on a healthy dog food diet so I’m really beginning to look my healthy handsome self. <br/>If you are looking for a very handsome, eye-catching, sweet and loving companion, I’m your man. I’m being fostered in the NE Indianapolis area.
