Handsome ALPHA's Story
Handsome ALPHA - a calm, low maintenance senior (approx 9 years) guy who has already been through more change than most dogs ever should.

ALPHA was originally rescued from Lebanon and eventually found what he thought was his forever family. He lived with them for years, but as the household became busier and more hectic, he struggled.

Eventually, his adoptive family had made a decision to euthanize him - but thankfully we found out just in time, and picked him up on the very day he was scheduled to die.

Since coming into foster care in April, ALPHA has made meaningful progress.

He settles beautifully in the house, loves his walks, is extremely food motivated, and most of the time is incredibly easy to live with. He really doesn’t ask for much: a predictable routine, a comfortable place to sleep, some good walks and a person he can trust.

ALPHA can still have occasional reactive moments when he feels unsure or uncomfortable, so he needs a patient, experienced adopter who understands dog body language and is comfortable respecting his space.

The good news is that he responds very well to food and redirection, and those moments have become less frequent as we’ve learned him.

We believe ALPHA would thrive in a quieter home where he can have more one-on-one time and one clear primary caregiver.

The hardest part is that underneath those difficult moments is such a genuinely good dog. He is calm, independent, affectionate on his terms, loves being outside and doesn’t need constant attention.

He just needs someone willing to understand him and give him the stability he has been missing.

ALPHA already got a second chance at life. We would love for his next chapter to finally be the one where he gets to stop adapting and simply be home.

At the end of the day, the ideal home situation for him is:

- no kids
- no dogs
- single person or couple (but the male needs to be primary caregiver from the beginning to build trust)
- quiet lifestyle, without excessive in and out of new people

He deserves to live the last few years of his life with love, stability and compassion.

ALPHA is currently in foster care in Puslinch Ontario (near Guelph).

INFO - Neutered, vaccines up to date, microchipped.
