Hamilton IV's Story

Meet Hamilton (aka Hambone): The Ultimate Love Bug. Hamilton is a sweet, snuggly, velcro pittie boy who just wants to love and be loved. This 5-year-old boy came into the shelter as a stray with visible signs of a rough past but has proven to be nothing but gentle, affectionate, and eager to please. This guy has been a total heart-stealer, winning over everyone he meets with his hugs, kisses, and heart-melting smile.

Hamilton is the best hugger, always jumping up to deliver the most heartfelt hugs and kisses. His low-energy, chill personality makes him the perfect companion for relaxing evenings. When he sleeps, his hilarious snores are sure to make you smile. Although heâ€ÂTMs still discovering toys, he already loves fetching, chewing, and carrying them around. Hamilton is a velcro dog through and through, happiest when heâ€ÂTMs by your side and sharing all the love he has to offer.

Hamilton fits in wonderfully with his foster familyâ€ÂTMs dogs, which include a small senior chihuahua mix and a larger shepherd/pittie mix. After a slow and careful introduction, heâ€ÂTMs now enjoying tag-style play with his foster siblings. His play style is more rough-and-tumble but never overly aggressive or mouthy. He has also met his foster familyâ€ÂTMs toddler and was sweet and gentle, but since he loves giving hugs and close contact, a home with older kids might be a better match for him.

Hamilton is a total “good boy.” He is not really crate trained anymore as he loves his dog bed and chooses his own routine to go sleep there every night. He does behave well in the bathroom as his fosters chose to keep him there instead of his crate when they're away. Heâ€ÂTMs fully potty trained and has not had a single accident in his foster home. While heâ€ÂTMs already leash trained, heâ€ÂTMs still working on reducing pulling during walks. His daily routine is simple and easygoing. He starts his day with a morning walk, followed by a midday potty break and some backyard play. Evenings are filled with snuggles on the couch or in bed, and he happily retires to his dog bed at night.

Hamilton would thrive in a home that mirrors his calm and loving personality. After a slow introduction, Hamilton doesn't mind if his new home has a single person, a couple, or a family with older children, but he would like to be a homebody more than a social butterfly. While he would enjoy having a yard or a friendly dog sibling, Hamilton would also be happy as the only pet in the home, as long as he has plenty of love, affection, and cuddles.

Hamilton is ready to leave his past behind and start fresh in a forever home filled with love. If youâ€ÂTMre looking for a laid-back, snuggly companion who will shower you with affection, Hamilton is the perfect pup for you!

All HSDC, Humane Society of Dallas County, adoptable pets are spayed or neutered, microchipped, and up to date on vaccines upon adoption.
