Meet Halo <br/><br/>Halo is a beautiful 4 1/2-year-old American Eskimo looking for an experienced, patient home where she can truly shine.<br/><br/>A few months ago, Halo's owner reached out on a local page about rehoming her, we contacted her and she was supposed to meet us, but plans kept falling through. When we learned she was moving within days and Halo had been posted once again, we knew we had to step in to make sure she ended up somewhere safe.<br/><br/>When Halo first arrived, she was scared, overwhelmed, and unsure of everything around her. She had likely spent most of her life in one home without ever venturing out or socializing, so the transition was a big one. Initially, she was defensive and preferred the safety of her crate, but after just a couple of days she realized she was safe and began to relax.<br/><br/>Once she settled in, Halo showed us what a sweetheart she really is. She loves being close to her people, happily curls up on the couch or in bed, and would spend all day in your lap if you let her. She met my mom beautifully, handled her veterinary visit like a champ despite all the people and dogs around, and charmed one of our longtime American Eskimo adopters enough that she hopped right into her car and settled into her lap. She now will approach people more readily and isn't defensive. She did get defensive when a very young child not being watched properly ran up to her and grabbed her on her walk. No bites were had and the family apologized profusely. <br/><br/>Unfortunately, after moving into her foster home, Halo became territorial with the resident American Eskimo. It may have been partly because she went into her heat, having not ever being spayed (she has an appt). While she adored her foster family, sharing her people proved to be difficult, so she returned to us.<br/><br/>Back with us, Halo lives alongside dogs of all sizes and generally does well, though she can occasionally be a bit bossy. Because of what we've learned, we feel she'd be happiest in a home with older children and adults, ideally as the only dog or possibly with one canine companion and an owner who understands that trust and consistency go a long way.<br/><br/>If you're looking for a loyal little shadow who wants nothing more than to love her person, Halo just might be your girl.
