HAKU's Story

Hello. I came to the shelter after my previous owner was no longer able to care for me. They mentioned that I am leash trained, crate trained, like chew toys and good on car rides. I can be shy initially but with time and patience, I can warm up to be an energetic fella. My previous owners mentioned that I had lived with a cat before. Of course I'll need slow and monitored introductions to any new animals and people in the home. I've been a little nervous about meeting new people at the shelter which is understandable, I'll just need kind people that can go slowly with me and help me adjust in a new home. My personality will blossom once I'm feeling safe in a good home! Visit this page for more information about properly introducing pets. Insights from my friends: Haku is incredibly sweet and friendly. He wants to please people and is very responsive towards “sit”. He can very nervous at first, but warms up very quickly. He loves kissing people! He walks well on a leash and does seem housetrained. He is also quite food motivated. Haku attracted me with his expressive eyes and sweet look, no barking from his cage. Haku was unassuming, quite nervous but got in the car readily. He wanted to lie down on the floor. After a few miles he chose to sit on the passenger seat. He appeared to be enjoying riding in the car. Haku is very agreeable and has enthusiam for everything. However, he seemed overwhelmed so we cut the trip short. He will likely adjust and enjoy adventures more with some time. I had taken Haku out earlier and he had been very nervous and overwhelmed. Toda,y he was different, almost like I'm going to enjoy myself today. He rides very well in the car and very interested in watching everything. Perfect copilot! We went to Blackwood Farm Park. Walked around a bit than sat in the shade. Then we returned to the car for a bit, then did the walk circuit again. I decided to bring Haku home as everything had gone so well and best to return then. He's polite, doesnt snatch treats, friendly and unassuming. Clearly has zest for life despite some timidity. Im looking forward to returning for more trips to Blackwood Farm Park with Haku.
