Hachi's Story

Hachi is extremely special. He was found dumped & wandering on the side of a rural road, soaking wet, freezing, disoriented & confused, in frigid, torrential, Nov-cold-snap icey rains.
Due to his full-blood breed, gentle nature & vulnerabilities (Seems to have possibly been chained-on, or crate-confined ? We are gradually working to build up his muscle mass) special stipulations & a home-visit are required.
No crate-confinement allowed. If a crate is used, door must remain open & only available for Safe-space rest. Although he would prefer your bed.
Vet guesstimates 4 yrs old at approx Jan 2025. Special precautions will be taken for adoption.
Home site check required & will verify Hachi will be inside dog with full access to outside play & yard. He is potty trained it appears. He seems to be friendly & get along with all of our other dogs, but we have not had him free roaming with other dogs yet.
Adopter must own, not rent, & all family members must be able to manage Hachi's size.
His greatest characteristic is his sheer love, adoration, exuberance & enthusiasm for human contact. His abundance of love for human touch may knock a small child down - however he is so smart & loving he could most likely adapt to more gentle approaches once his great need for contact & affection is met.
While Sanctuary life is a far cry better than where we found him, he does not get that one-on-one human contact nearly enough. He craves & needs human love. He would actually make a superb inside cuddle-shadow & "ride-or-die" companion for the right person or persons. He seems somewhat lacking in ability to perform feats of agility or extended exercise, but that may be just from his deprived lifestyle.
Hachi is not a perfect dog. He comes to you as he is. But he offers PROFOUND love, affection, loyalty, & reciprocity & depth of insight-&-capacity for connection. PLEASE TEXT ONLY Cheri at 803 308 7374. Please be so kind to give us your 1st & last name & where you live (what State & town or city) . Please understand candidates must meet, & verify at home site visit, Hachi's requirements. He deserves a stable, loving home life.
Heartworm negative. I would take him home with me if I possibly could. He is so very, very, special.
