Gypsy's Story

Hi, I am Gypsy and I'm a wonderful mini shepherd mix! I'm just about 1 year old and fully grown at 37 pounds so I'm a perfect small-medium girl for folks who love my breed but want a smaller pup. I'm smart, energetic, very playful and filled with lots of love. I get along great with everyone I meet and love to play with other dogs. I'd be great for an active adopter who is looking for a pup to run with and have adventures with. I haven't been cat tested yet so more to come on that. I'd love a home in a suburban area and hoping a great family adopts me so I can start an awesome life with them. Long Road Home's Adoption Policy

Where do we get our dogs? Majority of our dogs come from high kill shelters. Some are owner surrender or strays. All of the dogs that come into our rescue have been in high emergency situations where they would not be wagging their tails. We work with a lot of shelters in the south as well as on long island. We have wonderful people who dedicate their time to the dogs and transport them into our long island foster homes. What happens to the dog after we accept it into the program? All of the dogs first go to see a vet. Once they receive a clean bill of health the go into a home. We normally give each dog at least a week in a home with qualified trainer before we place the dog into a foster. We really like to have the dogs house broken and to have at least started basic obedience training. After the trainer we place the dog into its new foster home until it finds its forever home.
