Gwendolyn's Story
**WE ARE ALWAYS IN NEED OF FOSTER HOMES** Homeward Bound Dog Rescue is an all volunteer rescue organization and all our dogs and puppies are in foster homes - we are not a shelter and do NOT have a facility where we house our dogs. For adoption information go to: www.homewardbounddogrescue.com. You must fill out an application online as we do NOT accept applications at our clinics.

Hi! My name is Gwendolyn and I’m a purebred poodle who (unfortunately) was just used to breed pups and then discarded. Because I’ve been poorly cared for I do have some issues. I’m 3 years old and weigh 23 lbs.

I’m not used to living in a house so there’s that. But I’m getting used to warmness, good food, and human contact. I’m timid and shy so I jump with big movements and loud noises. This being loved and cared for is a new thing for me. I’ve been groomed and behaved like a statue. I do not walk on a leash for two reasons:

1. I’m scared of the world
2. I’m not understanding this leash business no way.

I am making progress every day and getting more social. I like other dogs and love running outside. I eat nicely but you can’t watch me. I sleep all night wherever. I definitely need a fenced in yard right off the house. It’s going to take time and patience for leash training but the yard romping works for me anyway.

Though fearful I do not growl or bite. I just “freeze”. Small children would frighten me so if they were visiting it would be the bedroom for a nap for me.

Gwendolyn is house trained, good with other dogs, and would probably just want to play with a cat. If you are an experienced dog person and are interested in rescuing a mama dog who needs love and support, Gwendolyn may be your girl!

Our adoption clinics are held one Saturday a month at our facility in Schenectady on John Street, located directly behind Boulevard Bowl (Erie Boulevard) from 10 am to 12 pm (directions are on our website). We require an approved application before we consider anyone for an adoption - so filling out the application is your first step. Once your application has been reviewed, you will receive an email invitation to attend an adoption event. Different dogs and puppies go up for adoption EVERY WEEK so please feel free to visit the site and click on the Petfinder link for updates as we are adopting dogs out in between adoption events. Puppies and dogs up to 2 years old are $395. Dogs over 2 years old are $295. 100% of the adoption fees go to help us save more dogs.
