GUSTAVO's Story
Gustavo (A564860) arrived at our shelter recently, and we’re genuinely surprised no one has come looking for him. At around 6 years old, he’s a seasoned gentleman who knows exactly who he is. What you see is what you get with Gustavo. He’s confident, a little hard headed, and unapologetically himself. Gustavo was not socialized with other dogs when he was younger and will need to be the only dog in his future home. We know that being a middle aged, black dog who prefers to fly solo puts the odds against him, but we’re hoping the right person sees past that and steps up to be his hero. Don’t let his serious photos fool you. Gustavo still has plenty of spunk and absolutely loves to play outside. He’s great with people and makes human friends easily. He even spent time in his finder’s home, where he did very well. He was around cats and, while he would bark at them, it appeared playful rather than aggressive. Gustavo seems to be potty trained, held his bladder overnight, and knows to bark or scratch at the door when he wants to come back inside. He knows “sit” and “come,” rides well in the car, and is happy to just lay down and enjoy the ride. Gustavo doesn’t need to be everything to everyone. He just needs one person willing to choose him. If you’re looking for a loyal, fun loving companion who’s ready for a second chance, please come meet Gustavo. Gustavo is guesstimated to be 6 years old and weighs 75 lbs. All dogs adopted from Huntsville Animal Services are spayed/ neutered, microchipped, dewormed, appropriately vaccinated, and receive a topical 90-day flea/ tick preventative. Ready to meet Gustavo? Just stop by our shelter and head to our dog areas. You can find him in kennel D46. All adopters must be 19 years or older with a valid ID.
