Gus the Wonderful's Story
🐾 Hi, I’m Gus (some people call me Gusterful) — and I’m ready for my next great adventure.

I was born on November 22, 2021, and I’ve had a really good life so far. I was adopted as a puppy, raised with a whole lot of love, and taught all the important stuff — sit, stay, come, heel, shake, and all those things humans seem very proud of (and I am too). I’m about 61 pounds, healthy, happy, and my vet says I’m doing great.

Life changed for me in 2025 when my dad passed away. My mom is 82 years old and loves me very much, but she wants what’s truly best for me — and that means a setup where I can have more space, more freedom, and the kind of life that fits who I am. Managing an active, excited guy like me can be hard for her, especially when I spot squirrels or cats (I get enthusiastic), and she’s making this decision out of love, not lack of it.

Here’s what you should know about me:

I love to move. Running, hiking, beach days (my absolute favorite), woods walks — yes please. Water might actually be the best place on earth as far as I’m concerned. I’m always up for an adventure and would make an amazing companion for someone who enjoys being active. I also love toys, zoomies, chasing balls (and usually bringing them back), and then settling in for some quality downtime.

I’m incredibly smart and genuinely fun to train. I’ve done nose work classes and earned A++ both times — no surprise there, sniffing is kind of my thing. I’m engaged, eager, and I really enjoy working with my person.

I get along great with other dogs and would absolutely love a canine buddy to run, play, and get into a little dog mischief with. That said, I’d also be perfectly happy as an only dog and your one-and-only best friend — as long as I’m getting the activity, structure, and connection I need.

One important thing to know about me: cats are a dealbreaker for me, so I’m looking for a cat-free home.

What I’m really hoping for is a home with some space — maybe a farm, acreage, or just room to stretch my legs and enjoy life. I give great kisses, I’m loyal to my people, and I’m the kind of dog who will happily be by your side for whatever the day brings.

If you’re looking for a dog who’s been deeply loved, well cared for, and is ready to give that same love right back — I might be your guy.

Think we could start our next adventure together?
www.thepittieprojectpnw.org/apply
