Gus's Story

Meet Gus: A Sweet Little Cuddle Bug Looking for His Next Chapter

Meet Gus, an adorable 8-year-old Chihuahua mix weighing just 8.6 pounds. This little guy may be small, but he has plenty of love to give, especially if you're looking for a companion who is happiest curled up right beside you.

Gus is a laid-back adult dog who loves to cuddle, nap, and sleep on his person. He's friendly with adults and strangers and does well meeting new people. He is also comfortable going to the vet and groomer, making him an easy little companion to have by your side.

He enjoys other dogs and has been described as playful with canine friends. His experience with cats is unknown. Gus is not aggressive with children, but young children, particularly those who want to pick him up or make sudden loud noises, can make him nervous. Because of this, we believe Gus would thrive in a calm adult household, especially with empty nesters, retirees, or someone looking for a relaxed companion.

Gus is accustomed to going into the backyard for potty breaks and will also go on walks. Because he's such a tiny fellow, his new family will want to make sure the yard is secure with no little escape routes. He is accustomed to being home alone during the workday and, in true Gus fashion, his daily activity level is best described as mostly lazy.

A couple of things to know: Gus definitely appreciates food, so snacks shouldn't be left within his reach, and doorbells can be a trigger for him. But what does Gus love most? Simply sleeping on you and being close to his person.

Gus is neutered, up to date on vaccinations and has no reported medical conditions or current medications. He has also been kept on heartworm and flea/tick prevention.

After eight years with his family, changing circumstances with a young toddler mean Gus now needs a home where he can once again enjoy plenty of freedom, affection, and lap time. His family wants him to have the environment that suits him best, one where life is a little quieter and there's always a comfortable place to cuddle.

If your idea of the perfect companion is a sweet, sleepy little shadow who would love nothing more than to curl up with you, Gus may be your guy.
