Highland Lakes Canine Rescue's Adoption Policy
We want to make adopting as seamless as possible while ensuring you and your new canine companion are a perfect match. 1. Discover Our Pups Explore our adoptable dogs online or visit us at a local community adoption event! Please note that we do not finalize adoptions at these events; we invite all potential adopters to submit an application before visiting our rescue for a personalized experience. 2. Submit Your Application Found a dog that catches your eye? Head to hlcr.org to submit an online application. Our current adoption fee is $225, which fully covers their spay/neuter surgery, microchip, deworming, vaccinations, and a comprehensive vet check. If multiple families are interested in the same pup, we will always let you know. 3. Schedule a Meet-and-Greet Once your application is reviewed, we will contact you to schedule a private visit to our rescue. To ensure harmony at home, we ask that you bring all human family members and any current dogs to this session. There is absolutely no pressure—take all the time you need to make sure it's a great fit. 4. Welcome Your New Best Friend Home! When you're ready to make it official, we will provide you with: Complete medical and behavioral history. Your dog’s microchip registration info (which we will help you transfer). A transitional bag of food to keep their tummy happy. > Travel Tip: We highly recommend keeping the car ride home quiet and secure by traveling with your new pup in a crate.
