Gus's Story

GUS: Almost 2 year old purebred male black Lab 72 lbs neutered

Background:
Gus was purchased from a breeder at 8 weeks old. There are three children in the home ages 3-9.

Gus is tolerant of the kids when he is awake but does not want to play with them.

From Gus’ Rescue Rep:
Gus is a great dog in many ways. He is a very active, energetic, smart and is a happy dog. He is housebroken, crate trained and sleeps in his crate through the night.

He likes to fetch, swim and ride in the car. Gus has had obedience and manners training. He knows many commands such as sit, stay, come, down, heel, leave it and wait. When strangers come over he will at times bark and jump on them. Gus needs some work on his leash manners. He is generally social and good with other dogs.

He has no resource guarding with his food or toys. The owners practice doing this so he gets used to it and he doesn’t have any issues with this.

Gus would enjoy and thrive with a very active lifestyle. When Gus is in his dog bed or crate resting or sleeping, he is intolerant of being touched or awakened. His family worked with a professional trainer who determined that Gus has some great qualities and will make a wonderful dog for the right person.
There is no history of bites.

No kids, cats or other dogs in the home please.

Gus is used to being with his people the majority of the time.
