Gus's Story
Gus is a young mixed breed dog adult with likely heeler ancestry. He turned one in February.

Gus is working on some anxiety issues but he’s already made tremendous progress in his foster home. His anxiety makes him cautious, not aggressive. He came to North Paw lacking in confidence and very frightened of men. He’s gaining confidence by the day and working through his issues regarding men. He’s learning to slow down his anxious thoughts and he’s able to appropriately enforce his boundaries with other dogs. He’s also learned how to be a patient and polite boy.

He’d actually do best with another dog in the home. A fur sibling who can help him continue to gain confidence and show him how to live his best doggy life. And, of course, at least one patient and supportive human who can help him with things like barking, lunging at cars, and other minor behavioral issues that he's already making great progress with.

Gus likes making friends but he prefers a calm and controlled situation with humans and with other dogs. He wants to snuggle but sometimes needs to be invited to do so by people he can trust. He’s happy to befriend and play with other dogs as long as those dogs are well socialized. He gets playful and has plenty of fun with dogs both bigger and smaller than he is. He's often found snuggled up with the other small dog in his foster home. Gus also is a big fan of playing ball, going on walks, and riding in the car.

A patient and understanding home with another dog would be the best place for Gus to end up. Are you the right match to help this good boy, who has come so far already, live his best life?

Gus' adoption fee is $500! This adoption fee includes: his alter, a microchip, his rabies, bordetella, and age appropriate DAPP vaccines, flea/heartworm preventative, and a deworming treatment while in foster care.

If you think he may be perfect for you, please apply using the link below!

https://www.cognitoforms.com/NorthPawRescue/NorthPawRescueDogAdoptionApplication

**Unfortunately, we cannot adopt out to Canada at this time.

**We require a 60 minute adoption radius.
