Gunther's Story

Meet Gunther 💥🐾
Explosive energy. Atomic cuddles.

This boy is full of life, movement, and big personality. Walks are a must, backyard play is highly recommended, and soccer balls? Consider them officially on borrowed time.

But behind that energy is a pure heart. Once Gunther feels comfortable, he becomes the cuddliest, most loyal sidekick you could ask for. Tell him he’s a good boy and watch him light up. Add some scritches and scratches and he’ll glue himself to your side.

He’s house trained and kennel trained (though he prefers space to stretch out and supervise his kingdom). He sleeps through the night — especially if he gets to be near his little humans — and wakes up ready to start the day.

Gunther has met a couple of dogs and was friendly with them, though he’s still fine-tuning his doggy manners and can sometimes come off a little rude in his enthusiasm. He may enjoy a home with another dog around his age and energy level, but he’s also doing well solo.

With children, he’s affectionate and loving — a total softie. That said, kids should not approach his food dish while he’s eating, as he has given verbal warnings that he prefers not to share his meals.

Leash manners and recall are a work in progress. He also has a gentle mouthing habit — placing hands or arms in his mouth without biting — and will benefit from continued training and consistency.

He hasn’t been overly destructive, and a frozen stuffed bone keeps him happily occupied between bursts of energy. Tug, fetch, soccer — he’s always ready for the next round.

Gunther is big energy, big love, and big personality. If you’re ready for adventure, laughter, and a loyal best friend who will keep you moving and then curl up right beside you, Gunther is your guy. 💥🐾

Born: December 13th, 2024
Gender: Male
Breed: Husky Mix
Size: Large ( about 90lbs)
Activity Level: High
Cats: Untested
Dogs: Yes
Kids: Yes
Adoption Fee: $345

If you are interested in meeting Gunther, applications can be found here:

http://mgpr.weebly.com/dog-adoption-application.html

Manitoba Great Pyrenees Rescue's Adoption Policy
The adoption process starts with an application form to find out more information about your family to ensure the best fit for the dog. Applications can be found at http://mgpr.weebly.com/ Second step is to have reference checks and vet checks. We want to ensure all dogs go to responsible loving homes. Thirdly, is the meet and greet with the dog you are interested in adopting. We encourage all members of your family to be in attendance at this visit as the dog will be an integral part of all of their lives. The final step of the adoption process is a home visit from one of our team members. The home visit allows us to see the environment in which the dog will be living as well as to offer any tips and advice to making your home dog friendly. Then your new family member will come home to shower your family with unconditional love.
