Gunner #21's Story

Gunner #21 is a 70-lb, 1½-year-old yellow Lab with a sweet, playful heart and lots of love to give. He’s housetrained, knows basic commands, takes treats gently, and is eager to please and quick to learn. Gunner handles well, responds nicely to redirection, and enjoys the company of other dogs with proper, supervised introductions.

Gunner is a lower-confidence boy who needs time and space to feel comfortable with new people. Once he bonds, he’s affectionate, loyal, and happiest with his people. Stranger greetings aren’t his favorite, so he’ll do best with an adopter who is willing to advocate for him in public and manage visitor interactions at home. He may not be a “party dog,” but he’s perfectly content relaxing in his crate until the excitement passes.

Playful and charming, Gunner loves to carry around “treasures” (toys, socks, blankets) but isn’t destructive and does not resource guard. He would do well as an only dog or with a patient canine companion, and he’s best suited for a home without young children.

Gunner doesn’t need intense training—just a thoughtful home that respects his boundaries and helps him build confidence. In return, he’ll be a loyal, loving companion and an absolute joy to the family lucky enough to call him theirs.

For additional information about Gunner #21 please email Deb Cook Keavy: deb.cook.keavy@labs4rescue.org

Gunner #21 is being fostered in Connecticut.

IMPORTANT INFORMATION: We receive many questions about our adoption process from potential adopters, most of which can be answered by viewing our "Adopt a Lab" page on our full service website, (https://labs4rescue.com/adopt).
