Gunner's Story
I have spent some time in a Board and Train program and the trainer reported that I arrived as an insecure, untrained dog who really didn't know even basic commands, and I was easily distracted or became over-stimulated. My insecurities led to excessive barking and nipping. The trainer worked with me using a calm, confident style while setting very clear boundaries, so I learned the difference between right and wrong. He recommends that I be adopted as an only dog, because when I'm around other dogs, I can get over-stimulated, which can spill over to other negative behaviors. I would love to find a home with a single person or couple who have a fairly quiet household (no kids). My adopter will need to continue with my training and set clear boundaries for me. The trainer will also provide a complimentary training session to help with the transition and discounted rates for additional training sessions. I would love to find my new person so I can show him or her how affectionate, loyal and devoted I can be!

Hi, I'm Gunner, a handsome 2 1/2 yr old boy who was surrendered to FRGSR by my former owner due to his failing health. My owner was sad to have to surrender me, but rather than abandoning me at a shelter where I may not have made it out, he asked FRGSR if they could help to find me a new home, and thankfully, they said yes. Losing my owner and my home has left me wondering what happened and I'm feeling a little unsure of things. I'm currently living in a foster home, and my foster mom has noted that I'm definitely a boy who needs an owner with GSD experience. I'm particular about my canine friends, because I like some, but not others. I'm crate trained and house trained.
