Guinevere has been at the shelter for over a year which honestly is a little disrespectful considering the level of celebrity she believes she is. <br/>She's 10ish years old, about 45lbs, and has absolutely no interest in being everyone's cup of tea. She has preferences. She has boundaries. She has standards. <br/>Guinevere enjoys affection when she has personally approved the transaction. She does not need constant attention, emotional support, or someone following her around asking "Who's a good girl?" every 3 minutes. <br/>She knows.<br/>Her greatest joy in life is riding in the car! <br/>Being at the shelter? Meh.<br/>Getting into a vehicle? Suddenly she is a retired millionaire on her way to inspect her vacation property.<br/>Give this dog an RV and she will immediately assume you are headed to Palm Springs!<br/>Guinevere has been treated for Lyme disease. She is doing very well but she will need long-term medications to keep her comfortable. She would also like everyone to know that this does not interfere with her ability to supervise your driving, judge your parking choices, or maintain extremely strong opinions about absolutely everything. Guinny would thrive with someone who appreciates an independent senior dog with a strong sense of self and absolutely no desire to participate in nonsense. She is basically a tiny retired woman who has already asked to speak to management, keeps a mental list of household policy violations, and has somehow become the chairperson of a committee nobody remembers creating. <br/>After more than a year in the shelter, Guinevere is ready for retirement!<br/>Her requirements are simple: a comfy home, a person who understands personal space, a vehicle, her medications, and preferably snacks. <br/>She has waited long enough! Someone please come pick up your weird little grandma!<br/><br/>From Dr. Guevara:<br/>Congratulations on adopting Guinevere into your family! While she was at the shelter, she was tested for heartworm disease and several tick-borne diseases. She tested positive for Lyme antibodies, which indicates that at some point in her life, she was exposed to Lyme disease and mounted an immune response. Guinevere was treated with Doxycycline for a full 30 days, during which she only exhibited mild clinical signs. It's important to note that since most clinics test for antibodies, she will likely test positive again in the future. We recommend pursuing titer testing and treatment if you have visited a Lyme-endemic area, have had a lapse in flea/tick control, or if she begins to show any clinical signs.
