Grumpy's Story

He recently joined playgroup for the first time and did well engaging with the other dogs once he settled in. He’s still learning that new people and situations aren’t so scary, and while he can be a bit “spicy” when nervous — especially around his face or if someone reaches over his head — he’s making steady progress.

During a dog test with Henna, Grumpy showed curiosity and interest, asking for some space at first but relaxing once he realized he meant no harm. When things got a little too exciting, he came back to his handlers for reassurance — showing he wants to trust and do the right thing, he just needs time and guidance.

His reactivity stems from fear and uncertainty, so Grumpy would do best in a calm, experienced home that understands his breed and can help him continue building confidence. A home without small children would be ideal, and we’d also feel comfortable sending him to a trusted rescue partner.

With patience, structure, and understanding, Grumpy has the potential to truly shine — he’s just waiting for someone to help him feel safe enough to show his softer side.

Apply to adopt here: https://www.waynedogshelter.org/adoption-application
