Gruber's Story

Hi! My name is Gruber, but everyone calls me Griffin (Or Griff or Big G!). I heard that I am the 2nd longest dog in the MAS system, but I don't know why because I'm told I am incredibly handsome! You should know that I am not a big fan of other dogs. They make me anxious, so as you can imagine, being at the shelter was very stressful. Luckily, my now foster mom played with me in the yard and decided to bring me home with her, and that has been great. When I first went to my foster home, they always tried to pet me and love on me, and I didn't understand this "cuddling" when we could be playing instead. Then I figured out how incredible belly rubs are, and now I like to get those all the time! I try to crawl into foster mom's lap, but it's a hard fit but worth the effort.<br/><br/>I learned really quickly that I potty outside, and proud to say I never have accidents! I am a homebody. I am happiest in the comfort of my own space. I love having a backyard where I can play, run, and feel safe. I would enjoy a home where I can watch sports and movies with you or watch you play video games. I am also good at entertaining myself with a Benabone or staring at shadows on the wall while my foster mom works on the computer. Some of my likes are belly rubs, peanut butter-filled Kongs, and playing keep away! Im the champ at keep away. As soon as foster dad gets home, I look for the closest toy I can find so we can play, and I always win! You see, I am a VERY happy boy.<br/><br/>I prefer to be the only pet in my home since other dogs make me anxious. If you think you would be the home I've been waiting for, just let my foster mom know!"<br/><br/><br/>If you would like to be considered for adoption, please complete the adoption questionnaire on our website www.heartsofgoldpitrescue.com.

Hearts of Gold Pit Rescue's Adoption Policy
Our goal is to match you with a dog that is compatible with your family and lifestyle. Choices for a long-term animal companion should not be made based solely on looks. The temperament and energy level of the dog in question must be taken into consideration. Other Dogs? If you have another animal companion, you must take the extra effort required to match the personality of your resident dog with the personality of the dog you are wishing to adopt. This compatible match takes time and research – one size does not fit all; dogs have very individual needs and personalities. Type of Dog for You? Please consider your energy level, time constraints and space while considering adoption. If you do not have the time to train a puppy, consider an adult dog. If you live in an apartment or do not have a fenced yard, consider the time required to provide adequate exercise for your dog. In snowy, sunny and rainy weather, your dog will still need exercise. If you have never had a dog, consider fostering before making a commitment to adopt.

Our Mission
We are a small home-based rescue group. In addition to our foster dogs, we all have families, jobs, and our own dogs. Our rescue focus is on "quality" and not "quantity" - we are not in a rush to get our dogs adopted. We are looking for the best possible home for each dog, not just any “home!” We are very conscientious a...
