Grizzly's Story
Hi, my name is Grizzly! I'm a RED pawprint, which means I need an experienced home that meets some specific criteria. Here is what would work best for me in my new home:

-Personality: Loving, loyal, playful, active, affectionate

-Can Live with Kids: Grizzly lived with kids in his previous home and could potentially do so again. He can be a little rowdy in times of excitement and may be a little too much for super young kiddos. At this time we're recommending kids ages 12+, pending an intro at the shelter.

-Can Live with Cats: Unknown history, will need slow, supervised intro.

-Can Live with Dogs: Yes, Grizzly has done well during playgroup at WHS and would likely enjoy another dog of similar size and playstyle. Initial intros done @ WHS.

-Can do Apartment Living: No, thanks! This large and in charge guy would love a home with a yard!

-Potty Trained: Appears to be!

-Bite History: No

-Positive Reward Based Obedience Classes Required: Not required but would certainly be beneficial!

-Energy Level: Medium/high

-Needs Medical Procedure Before Going Home: Neuter/microchip

-Additional Information: Meet Grizzly; just big ol' puppy desperately seeking some stability, structure, and love! Grizzly would THRIVE in a home where his people can provide him with continued training and give him a chance to be goodboi he truly is at heart. Still just a puppy, he was surrendered to the shelter for "not fitting in with the household" of his previous owner; ie, doing puppy stuff (previous owner cited examples like destructive chewing and bad recall.) With a little effort from his new family, we expect this smart, attentive guy to catch on to new things in no time. Grizzly is food-motivated (which will go a long way in his training!) and has a good foundation of basics (knows 'sit' and takes treats gently.) Like most adolescent dogs, Grizzly struggles a bit in the shelter environment. In times of excitement he can be jumpy/mouthy, but is working hard every day to improve on this and should do much better once out of shelter in a more natural setting!

If you are interested in adopting, please fill out an application on our website (www.whatcomhumane.org/adopt) or in person at our facility. We recommend calling into the shelter after your application has been submitted so our front desk can give you next steps on our adoption process.
